I first became interested in student loan repayment in 2021. I had just finished my MBA, COVID had shut the world down (and my medical school classes!), and I was looking for resources to help compare and contrast the different loan repayment plans. I could not find any free resource that visualized how the different repayment plans would affect my personal finances and when I looked online, all of the resources that I found were behind very expensive pay walls.
I decided to create my own tool. I created a calculator that allowed a student to enter their personal financial details and would output what each repayment plan would look like for them. I also wanted it to estimate net worth over time given a student's loans, repayment plan, and projected salary.

In 2021, I presented my tool to medical students throughout Saint Louis, but it was not until I partnered with Jeff Bettag in 2023 that we decided to create a website and broaden the accessibility of our tool. Jeff is now helping get this free tool in the hands of everyone that may benefit from it.
